Net Zero Healthcare - webinar

A European Roadmap; Hospital Design; Policy into Practice; Innovation and Technology

The UN Climate Change Conference – COP26 – ends on 12th November, but it is already clear that policy makers have shifted their focus from ambition to implementation.  Targets are being tightened, timescales shortened, and commitments made more forceful, more binding and more comprehensive.  It’s time to get real.

We know that the health and care sectors are responsible for a significant proportion of the world’s carbon burden.  It will be a huge challenge to meet the challenge of sustainably reducing the carbon footprints of hospitals, care homes, transport networks, and pharmaceutical and equipment supply chains.  Fortunately, health professionals are smart, innovative and optimistic people, and we should be confident that, given the tools and resources, they can manage the transformation to carbon neutral or carbon negative environments.  But questions remain.  What tools and resources will be effective?  What policy initiatives are needed?  How will design principles change?  What is the contribution of innovative technologies?  To discuss these topics, this EuHPN webinar showcases four experts:

·         Anna Fuhrmann, Health Care Without Harm (Europe): How Europe’s health sector can take practical steps to reach Net Zero

·         Susan Grant, NHS Scotland: The influence of Net Zero Policy on Healthcare Capital Investments

·         Kelly Alvarez Doran, White arkitekter; Ewan Graham, Hawkins\Brown:

Design for Net Zero:the New Children’s Hospital, Cambridge, UK

·         Daniel Eriksson, Nordic Center for Sustainable Healthcare: Innovation and New Technologies for a Sustainable Healthcare Future
