Erasmus MC Seminar, 27th November

A 1-day seminar on academic hospital building: lessons learned about innovative design concepts and project management

On the 27th November, Erasmus University Medical Centre opened its doors to share experiences and lessons learned, halfway through their 200,000 square metre redevelopment project. In collaboration with EGM architecten, this one day seminar offered a choice of workshops and tours, followed by a plenary session presenting a mix of managerial, medical and architectural highlights of this ambitious project. The key note speech was given by Professor Kirk Hamilton, one of the world’s opinion leaders on Evidence Based Design. The program finished with a reflection by retiring project architect Bas Molenaar, partner at EGM architecten. A drinks reception was organized following the seminar in his honour.

You can find the programme here.  The organisers of the seminar have been kind enough to share some selected slides taken from the presentations given by workshop and tour leaders, as well as some of the slides contributed by the keynote speakers.  These cover the key design, planning and project management aspects of the Erasmus MC redevelopment, as well as some of the conceptual principles that have guided the project from its beginning.  You can download these slides here.
