EuHPN 2014 Workshop, Edinburgh 1-3 October

Thinking differently about healthcare buildings: innovative infrastructure planning and design to improve the quality and safety of care

This year's EuHPN workshop took place in Edinburgh, from 1st to 3rd October.  Over 100 participants enjoyed a packed programme of high quality speakers, who addressed the effects of the integration of healthcare services on the built environment, how to design healthcare facilities to enhance the quality and safety of care, and the role of innovation in planning and designing healthcare buildings.  The final workshop programme can be seen here, and you can view and download the workshop presentations here.

The 2014 workshop also featured the first showing of an exhibition organised by Architecture and Design Scotland, to showcase what is being achieved in Scotland's health and social care buildings. The exhibition will now travel to the Scottish Healthcare Facilities conference, 6th to 7th November, and from there to public viewing at The Lighthouse, Glasgow, from 14th November to 28th January.

EuHPN is grateful to Brookfield Multiplex, VFA and Laing O'Rourke for their generous sponsorship of the 2014 workshop, to Health Facilities Scotland for logistical help, to the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) for hosting a drinks reception at their newly commissioned Edinburgh offices, and to the Scottish Government’s Health and Social Care Directorate for assistance and support.
