Stokmarknes Acute Hospital, Norway

The path of hospital development is not always smooth and straightforward.  As the planning environment changes, so projects have to adapt to new requirements and priorities.  Architect Svein Erik Tøien of BOARCH arkitekter as has kindly shared with us his presentation on the development of the new acute Stokmarkness hospital in Norway, which illustrates a complex, 10-year trajectory of changes in direction - from plans to refurbish existing facilities, through a number of reviews, to completion of a new build acute hospital.  You can download the pdf, first presented at the IFHE 2012 World Congress 2012, here.
